Provigil is a brand name for Modafinil, which is popular in United States.

This drug is considered to be a waking-promoting agent, which has sympathomimetic agents, the same as such amphetamines as methylphenidate. But Generic Provigil pharmacological profile is a bit different. It is more identical to that of sympathomimetic amines. Its precise mechanism of work is still unknown. It is a schedule C-IV controlled substance.

Generally, the most attention must be paid when getting tricyclics, cyclosporine and contraceptives simultaneously with Provigil. Dose of 400mg per day is normally tolerated by patients, but there is no concrete evidence that it can bring additional benefits than a dose of 200 mg.

As for psychiatric symptoms they usually include anxiety, hallucinations, suicidal thinking and mania. The doctors must be very attentive while prescribing the medication for people who earlier suffered from depression, psychosis, alcoholism and different substances abuse.
